Decended from the Plymouth Barracuda, the 'Cuda first appeared in 1969 and quickly stole the spotlight from its more sedate forefather. In 1970, the 'Cuda became a distinct model with a standard 383-cubic-inch engine. Optional engines ranged from a 340-cubic-inch, 275 horsepower engine to the ultra powerful eight-barrel 426-cubic-inch Hemi. It was the "440-Six-Pack," however, that became the favourite on the street! With a V-8 block fed by three two-barreled carburetors, the "440-Six-Pack" was an affordable and impressive power plant producing 290 horsepower. this model brought a look of awe to all who saw the 'Cuda streak by. With its low-riding lines, its wind scoop on the hood, the winged stabilizer on the rear and the flashy paint job, the '71 'Cuda looked like it was accelerating...even at rest!
